Residential Treatment for Males Ages 12-17

McDowell Center is a 28-bed residential treatment facility located in Dyersburg, Tennessee, for adolescent males experiencing mental health, behavioral, and/or substance abuse issues. Our staff is made up of licensed therapists, psychiatrists, nurses, and counselors who offer 24-hour support for our patients. We provide young men with the skills they need to improve their thinking patterns, make healthier choices, and create new futures with improved outlooks and outcomes.

Our staff is made up of licensed therapists, psychiatrists, nurses, and counselors who offer 24-hour support for our patients. Services

Our residential program offers long term care for serious problems, such as severe depression and anxiety, significant trauma, self-harm, sexually reactive behavior, and other mental health disorders. Residents focus on anger and stress management, dealing with environmental triggers and negative peer pressures.

Our substance abuse track provides support for young men in our facility who are facing co-occurring substance use disorders while getting mental health treatment. Residents work closely with a licensed psychiatrist and a licensed drug and alcohol counselor to develop relapse prevention strategies that residents can use when they return to their communities.

Our Dual Diagnosis Program offers treatment to children who are struggling with both a psychiatric disorder and a diagnosed intellectual disability (IQs of 50 to 70). We offer specialized attention to these vulnerable young men, providing them with the coping skills they need. Residents of the program are housed in a separate unit with smaller classrooms and living areas to reduce their anxiety.
