McDowell Academy

Education is an integral component of treatment at McDowell Center for Children. Upon admission, every patient is immediately enrolled into education programs at McDowell. Enrollment letters are forwarded to the student’s school district superintendent, local education agency and director of assessment.

Our licensed, therapeutic school provides small, highly structured classes during the school year for all residents. We can accommodate students on various academic levels and work closely with home school districts to minimize loss of credits and class time.

McDowell Center for Children uses the several education programs to drive student growth, unify the classroom experience, enhance and improve real-time communication with families or guardians.

Special education teachers are available to accommodate Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans for developmental difficulties, learning disabilities or behavioral issues. Classes are made up of small groups of students with a dedicated teacher and teaching assistant in each classroom.
